Operation Christmas Child

We are excited to begin another year of Operation Christmas Child!  If you are not familiar with Operation Christmas Child (OCC) feel free to check out this link https://www.samaritanspurse.org/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/ In a nutshell, OCC collects shoeboxes filled with small toys, school supplies and hygiene products and gives them to needy children all over the world while using this opportunity to share the love of Jesus with that child.  Over 178 million shoeboxes have been delivered through OCC.  Our school has participated in this program for a number of years and we are ready for another great year!

There are several ways you can get involved this year.

1. Your family can fill a box or multiple boxes, include $9 per box (for shipping), and turn them in to your child’s teacher.

2. If you would prefer to just donate financially toward shipping these boxes, that is always a need.  Nine dollars is all it takes to get that box to the other side of the world and into the hands of a child desperate to know that someone cares about him/her.

5. We need notes and pictures to put in boxes.  A note or a picture shows each child that there are individuals (real people!) who love them enough to send them this gift.

6. There is a “Build a Shoebox Online” option to pick and pay for items that OCC will pack themselves.  This is a great option and is very cost-effective. Follow this link to include your box/boxes on our school’s goal page. https://sampur.se/3C8wy1N  Please look at this option and consider using it.

In case you can’t tell, we’re pretty passionate about this project.  Please follow the above link to hear stories of lives changed through this program.

We have shoeboxes available for you this year.  Starting Monday, Fifth grade students will be handing them out at the pick-up line at the end of the day.  You are also welcome to fill a shoebox you have at home or a plastic reusable box.

Pamphlets will not be sent home this year.  When you get your box, you will receive a label with basic directions on how to pack your shoebox.

We do need the filled shoeboxes returned to school by November 12th.  This gives you three weeks to shop, fill, and return your box/boxes.

Please note that we can no longer send toothpaste or hard candy in our boxes. And please be sure you include $9 in each box to send it to the child it was packed for.

Thank you so much for your involvement in OCC!  We are excited to reach children for Jesus while teaching our DTCA students about living out our faith.
